Gerald Groff has worked for the USPS for almost seven years. Sunday work was never previously required for his position.

The post office was able to previously accommodate him, but the USPS recently began enforcing a no-exceptions policy for working on Sundays. This ultimately led to Groff’s termination.

As a Christian, Groff believes the the policy violated his First Amendment rights.

"In a free society, in a free, pluralistic society, we should respect everybody’s differing religious beliefs," said Randall Wenger, chief counsel for the Independence Law Center.

The World Sabbath of Religious Reconciliation
The Twenty-First Annual World Sabbath will be held at 4pm on Sunday, March 1st at North Congregational Church

The World Sabbath consists of offerings of prayer by presenters from many beliefs and of a Children of Peace procession.

The blowing of a shofar and conch shell (from the Jewish and Hindu traditions respectively) and the Muslim call to prayer will open the service, followed by music, dance and prayers in the Muslim, Hindu, Baha’i, Zoroastrian, Jain, and Christian traditions. A children’s processional with handmade peace banners will highlight the interfaith commitment to peace.

Through a series of divine interventions, God began calling David into the full-time ministry in 2006. At the time he was a legal service broker and on an ambitious path. Although he had other plans, David started responding to God’s call. He prayed, “Lord, if it isn’t your will I succeed, please don’t allow me to.” Listen to a brief portion of David’s story of how God led him where he is today.
